Nicola Laud Herons Class TA and Part Time Teacher
Fresh from university in 1995, I began my teaching career in a primary school in Spalding. I spent ten years there and became a Deputy Headteacher before moving on to another local school. As a class teacher I mostly worked with children in Year 5 and 6. After getting married and having a son I took a career break and I decided to home educate my son for a year. We were lucky to spend a great deal of time travelling both in this country and abroad.
When my son returned to school I did some supply teaching which was how I discovered Sutton St James. I instantly loved the community atmosphere and gradually took on more work until becoming full time. I love my varied role here as I get to work with Key Stage 2 children, where the majority of my experience lies, and also with children throughout the whole school. There is no better feeling than watching and helping children succeed and I feel very lucky to be part of this school community with its excellent team of staff.
