Chris Mooney - PE and Pupil Premium lead
Hello! I am married and have a daughter in her twenties and a teenage son.
Prior to entering the teaching profession, I worked mainly in the sports and audio-visual retail market. In 1995, I qualified as a PE teacher and taught PE briefly in secondary schools before moving to the primary sector in 1997. Since then, I have taught in a variety of schools and worked for the charity: Sense (for two years) teaching adults who have no sight or hearing. I also qualified as a Numbers Count teacher (in 2012) specialising in developing and improving the mathematical skills of children in KS1.
I enjoy the variety that my role brings here at Sutton St. James; it allows me to work across the whole school which means being able to teach every child in a class setting, small group or on a 1-1 basis. In addition, it gives me the opportunity to work closely with my colleagues in the classroom. I am also very lucky because as a person who loves to spend their time outdoors, I am able to teach and be active with the children outside in the fresh air every day!
In my spare time, I enjoy watching different sports and keeping fit through running and cycling.
